In the name of the Father and of the +Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Have you ever noticed how often clouds pop up in the Bible? Or where? Our Lord ascends to the right hand of the Father and He is hidden by a cloud. (Acts 1:9) That’s not just because of weather. He’s speaking on a mountain to Moses and Elijah – two prophets who spoke to Him in the past (Exod. 3:4-7ff; 1 Kings 19:9ff) and prepared His way – and as He is transformed, transfigured, glows bright with light, a cloud covers Him. (Matt. 17:2-5) Why? Because Jesus, the Son of God in our flesh, was the One in the pillar of cloud. Before He took on flesh He was the One at the Red Sea saving the children of Israel in the pillar of cloud.
