Isaiah 40:25-31 1 Peter 2:11-20 John 16:16-22 In the name of the Father and of the +Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Birth. That miracle of life brought forth in the midst of pain, suffering, and blood. These days birth seems relatively safe. There is a low infant mortality rate and a low rate of serious problems for mothers. But any father who has witnessed the pain, the suffering, the agony that bringing a human being into the world causes his wife is prone to think, “How could I have done this to my wife, the woman I love?” For this suffering is indeed the curse of sin given in the beginning. Pain in child bearing. Man’s sin causes his wife suffering.

Ezekiel 34:11-16 1 Peter 2:21-25 John 10:11-16 In the name of the Father and of the +Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He’s the guy who leads the flock from safe places to find food to clear healthy waters to drink. He the guy who constantly oversees the flock and protects it from wolves, who keeps it together, safe under His watchful eye, who seeks out those little ones, those sick ones, those feeble ones who in foolishness, or illness, or idleness have wandered away from His loving care.
Ezekiel 37:1-14 1 John 5:4-10 John 20:19:31 In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Doubt and belief. It is the issue of our age. Thomas was, therefore, a modern man. “Show me with my own two eyes. Prove it to me with my five senses.” he said. Which is a common cry today. Science. What my five senses can tell me proves what is true and what isn’t. Prove it to me from science. And thus we doubt, for Science has no way of verifying what can not be sensed with the five senses. Science falls short of knowing anything about God or spiritual realities, for God can not be controlled or contained within a test tube or experiment. He can not be reproduced in a lab. So some supposedly scientifically minded ones think God therefore does not exist.
Job 19:23-27 1 Corinthians 15:51-57 Mark 16:1-8 In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! When did today begin for you? When you woke up? At midnight last night? We use both those ways of talking about a day don’t we? But Jews counted days from sundown to sundown. This is because in the first chapter of the Bible when God created all things it says, “There was evening and there was morning, the first day.” Therefore, days were counted from the going down of the sun. That is the beginning of a day. That’s why though Our Lord wasn’t dead for three complete 24 hour days, He was dead for three days. He died on Friday at 3pm. Day 1. At 6pm Friday, sundown in the Middle East, a new day started, Saturday. The Sabbath. The day of rest. Day 2. At 6pm, sundown on Saturday, a new day started. Sunday. Day 3. And without street lights or cars with headlights you can’t go out of the city into the countryside to a garden cemetery. You have to wait till the sunrises so you can see. Thus, the women didn’t go to the tomb till the sun came up on Sunday morning.
Exodus 12:1-14 1 Corinthians 11:23-32 John 13:1-15, 34-35 In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. God’s people were called “Israel,” which in their language means “He who wrestles with God.” God’s people are they who wrestle with God. Who grasp hold of their deity and hang on no matter what, insisting that He bless them! That’s faith in your God. That kind of faith sees you through whatever life throws at you and hangs on to God insisting that He bless you. Insisting that He will bless you even through what you are suffering right now.
That modern intellectual, Einstein, is said to have said that doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Well, by that definition faith may be insane; for faith hangs on to Lord no matter what, expecting Him to bless us. But we might re-cast that statement this way: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results (ie., clinging to God and being faithful even when it seems He has abandoned you) is the definition of persevering in faith, knowing that eventually Lord will bless those who cling to Him.
John 12:12-19 Zechariah 9:9-12 Philippians 2:5-11 Matthew 27:11-54 In the name of the Father and of the +Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Ride on King Jesus, no one can hinder Thee: not Satan, who thinks Your march to the cross plays into his plans; not your disciples who don’t know what’s going on untill its over; not the high priests whose job it is to slay passover lambs and so unwittingly they will slay You, the true Lamb of God which causes your Father to pass over our sin. No one can hinder Thee. For this is Your Father’s will. It will be accomplished.
